Malta gets written up for the diving and the nightlife. Gozo, the smaller island fifteen minutes across the channel, is what people come back for. It is slower, greener, and small enough that a three day trip does not feel rushed. That combination is why learning holidays work here.
When to come
April to early June, and mid September to early November. The sea is warm at both ends, the light is generous, and you can sit outside from breakfast until midnight. July and August are beautiful and hot, which is fine for a beach week and less fine for two days of thinking. Winter is mild, green and quiet, and the food is at its best.
Getting to Gozo
- Fly into Malta International Airport, which most European cities reach directly.
- Around forty five minutes by road to the Cirkewwa ferry terminal.
- Twenty five minutes on the ferry to Mgarr, with the crossing itself worth being on deck for.
- On our retreats the airport pick up and the ferry are handled for you, both ways.
What to eat, and where the island slows down
Ftira, the Gozitan flatbread, from a village bakery. Rabbit stew somewhere with plastic chairs. Whatever the fisherman brought in that morning at Mgarr. Ramla Bay for red sand, Wied il Ghasri for a swim in a crack in the cliffs, Dwejra at sunset, Victoria's Citadel for the view that makes the whole island make sense.
Gozo is small enough that three days is not a rushed trip.
What educational holidays cost here
Expect to budget for the course, flights and a room. Our three day educational holiday is €2,400 a person for a single seat and covers transfers, the two day programme, workshop meals and the follow up toolkit. Flights and accommodation are not included. A comfortable room near the venue in shoulder season is generally reasonable, and we send a shortlist once your seat is confirmed.
Next dates are autumn 2026, in a room of no more than twelve.
